Easy Tool To Create Icon Links To Your Favorite Social Bookmarking Sites

October 22, 2006

We’ve written a bunch of tools as part of automating tasks for our various sites. One of those tools creates the little icons that link your real estate article or blog posting to your favorite social bookmarking sites like Digg, Blogmarks, etc.

We’d love your feedback so please give the tool a try if you are interested:  http://forsalebylocals.com/tools/createbookmarks.asp

Here is the icon output for this blog posting using the tool:

BackFlip BlinkList Blogmarks Buddymarks CiteULike Comments Connotea Delirious
Delicious Digg Fark FeedMeLinks Feedmarker Furl Givealink Gravee
Hyperlinkomatic Kinja LinkAGoGo Linkroll Magnolia NetVouz NewsVine RawSugar
REV Reddit Scuttle Shadows Simpy Smarking TailRank Wists
YahooMyWeb

If you are a bit overwhelmed at the sheer number of similar online bookmarking type services out there, perhaps this link can help: http://www.podtech.net/home/technology/1307/shortcut-11-choosing-a-social-bookmarking-service

UPDATE: You’ll find well thought out arguments for and against the use of these types of icons throughout the article and comments here: http://www.37signals.com/svn/posts/93-its-the-content-not-the-icons.

Use the tool at your own risk as I’m not a member at all most of the sites.  We used the available documentation (actually, the documentation that we found and saw others were using) to generate the values. send any changes, additions, or deletions to tony@forsalebylocals.com. Hopefully, you’ll gain some readership out of it. Have fun.
