Video Interview: Pat Combs, President of the National Association of REALTORs (NAR)

March 23, 2007

Two days ago, Alicia Yabeta of our video team had the good fortune to sit down with Pat Combs, President of the National Association of REALTORs (NAR) for a real estate video interview. Among other things, not only did we learn that NAR is the largest trade association in the world with 1.4 million members but we also had a view into the level of dedication of the leadership with respect to making the association as effective and helpful as possible for its members.

In this 8.5 minute English language video interview, Pat talks a bit about the role of NAR, her role in the organization, increased visibility for NAR in the international arena, the role of the internet, and her views on the current real estate market in the United States. Pat also touches upon the agreement between NAR and Panama’s real estate association, ACOBIR. She also talks about how she sees the future. Both on-camera and off camera, she stressed to us that real estate is fundamentally a “people business”. She is certainly correct that technology improvements will not change the people side of the business.  In all, I came away fom the interview believing that she clearly has a vision for NAR and for its future for the people that comprise their membership. Enjoy!
